Family members

Most child sexual abuse is committed by someone the child knows; a meaningful share of it by a family member. The cases here involve mothers, stepmothers, aunts, grandmothers, and other female relatives charged with offences against children in their family. Disclosure rates in these cases are low and prosecution windows are long; many of the convictions below came years after the offence.
