These terms govern your use of HerPrey. By accessing the site or creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

What HerPrey is

HerPrey is an investigative database. Case files document publicly-reported incidents and verdicts. The Dossier section publishes editorial analysis, theory, and conjecture, which is clearly labelled as such. We work to keep the database accurate; when we get something wrong, we correct it in public.

Your account

You may create a free account using your email address or a Google login. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure. Notify us at our contact page if you believe your account has been compromised.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape the site at a rate that materially burdens our servers. Programmatic access is available through our forthcoming Researcher API on commercial terms — contact us.
• Submit tips, comments, or content you do not believe to be true.
• Harass, threaten, or attempt to identify people whose identities we have editorially suppressed.
• Use the site to plan, encourage, or carry out unlawful conduct.
• Republish substantial portions of paywalled content without our written permission.

Subscriptions and billing

Subscriptions renew automatically at the cadence you chose (monthly or annual) until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not refund partial periods except where required by law.

Prices may change, but we will notify active subscribers by email before any change takes effect on their account.

User-generated content

Comments and ratings you post remain attributable to your account. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display them on the site. We may remove content that violates these terms or our editorial standards.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is." We work to keep our reporting accurate and up to date, but we make no warranty of fitness, completeness, or non-infringement. Reliance on the information published here is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HerPrey and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site. Our total liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. Material changes will be announced on the site and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's home jurisdiction without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
